Extra Time Venue Showcase

Extra Time @StamfordBridge
600+ guests

Event organisers at Stamford Bridge were asked to create an immersive and fun experiential event highlighting the different services available at Stamford Bridge, and showcase the significant investment made refurbishing the West Stand which houses the key event spaces at the stadium.

Working closely with in-house AV production partners, Peachy Productions, and taking inspiration from the “extra time” boards (held up by officials at the end of football matches), the event theme and decorations utilised lighting and clean, modern lines to create the ultimate showcase space.

The Event

On the day, the Great Hall at Stamford Bridge was transformed into a multi-purpose event space with each of the stadium’s different business areas hosting interactive experience zones for guests to enjoy and be inspired by.

Over 600 guests entered the space via the newly-renovated Millennium Reception, greeted by two fabulous football freestylers who delighted with their tricks and skills before guests made their way through to the Great Hall, where world-famous DJ Trevor Nelson was on hand to provide the soundtrack to the evening.

Here they were welcomed with an array of cocktails, prosecco, beer provided by official sponsors Singha Beer, and a selection of delicious street food from around the world, prepared by the Club’s catering partner, Levy Restaurants UK.

The interactive experience stations ranged from a creative Alice In Wonderland themed tea party on the Meetings & Events stand, to a virtual reality tour of the Millennium & Copthorne hotel’s meeting facilities and even a quirky silent disco hosted by the Club’s very own music venue, Under The Bridge.

For guests wanting to work up an appetite, the Chelsea Health Club offered the chance to test their reactions on the infamous Batak machine, used by professional athletes to hone their reflexes, while legendary former Chelsea striker Tore Andre Flo joined the Matchday Hospitality stand to challenge guests to a virtual penalty shoot-out.

In addition, guests had the chance to take a photo holding the Premier League trophy, take in a mini-stadium tour hosted by the Club’s experienced tour guides, and enjoy complimentary treatments from the Antara Spa’s fantastic therapists.

To bring the evening to a close, the outstanding 14-piece band, Get Funked, took to the main stage, performing a rousing hour-long set which had everyone on their feet and dancing the night away, providing a fittingly energetic end to the event.

The Verdict

Simon Hunter, Head of Venue and Development at Chelsea Football Club, commented:

“The event was a fantastic opportunity for us as a venue to showcase our diverse offering to both our B2B and B2C clientele, as well as give our guests the chance to get a first look at the newly refurbished West Stand. It was great to hear such positive feedback from our guests ahead of its launch in October.”
